Students in both programs will have the opportunity to compete for more than 100 seats in the SoA+AH+D study abroad program to explore art, art history, and design in an international context. The 24-unit Communication Design Minor includes coursework in graphic design, advertising, marketing, and business. The focus during the junior and senior years is typography along with advanced coursework in everything from illustration to digital drawing. The senior year of the program culminates with the capstone portfolio course and a variety of electives are offered each semester to provide students the opportunity for specialized study. What do graphic designers do?
Graduates are prepared to enter careers in print and digital media, typography, identity systems and branding, design strategy, social media and interaction design, motion design, environmental design, data visualization, information design, and user experience design. Lehigh’s undergraduate major in design engages students with new technologies, materials and media in developing the creative processes and critical thinking necessary for the modern designer. The major centers on studio with an emphasis on visual communication through digital media. Courses in art and design history and theory and in specific media techniques supplement the series of required studios. The MA in VCD consists of 32 credit hours of study that can be completed in three semesters. Getting Your Design & Applied Arts Degree

Students may not apply for admission to Design Media Arts more than two times during their residency at UCLA. Previous coursework in Design Media Arts does not guarantee admission, but DESMA 8 and 10 are highly recommended.
